In school I got the assignment to make a temperature control with a Omron E5CK. A datasheet of this PID controller can be found here: Link
The idea is to simulate a process in an aluminium block. For this we use the following elements:
-J-type thermocouple
-50W heating element
-Digital PID-controller type E5CK Omron
-Volt meter to measure the output value (0-100% / 0-10V)
-A Peltier element (to create interference.)
We build everything inside a suitcase.
We had to make a small book of this. You can download that here: Link (Dutch)
A couple of pictures:

The process:
The circuit board with the peltier controller and 2 channel 0-10V dimmer/power control.
The saw tooth from the 0-10V dimming circuit.
Everything was build in a frame
And the frame was then build in a suitcase:

I had a boring plexi pen box on my desk. One day I thought it would be nice if it gave blue light, so I sanded the edges where I wanted to see light and put some leds underneath.

My pic-programmer could not program “in circuit”. Therefore I decided to make a new programmer. After some searching I found the galvawisp programmer on picbasic.nl. This programmer seemed perfect for my needs. Plus all the parts where easy to get.

Today I bought the transformers that Iām going to use as output transformers.

The power transformers.
The left transformer provides 200VAC. The right transformer provides 15VAC glow voltage.

I use my pc to play music while I’m working. But the pc is not on the same desk, so I had to get up and walk to the pc to change songs. Therefore I made a remote control.

I am working on a drill press to drill my PCBs. For the standard I found and restored an old drill press. The drilling machine will be the one I already have in use. The speed will be controlled by an diy PWM speed controller. Circuit: http://www.circuitsonline.net/circuits/view/17

Today I finished the restoration of the drill standard and I’ve mounted some leds on it:

I have had a bearing holder for my Z-axis made (I cant drill such large holes here at home):
Thanks Jaak!
I went to a metal store to buy a piece of aluminum bar (30*10*2000mm). I used this bar to attach the Z-axis to the X-axis. Therefore I also gotten a aluminum plate.
I’m also thinking how I’m going to build the X-axis. I think it is best that I make a metal frame with the guide rails mounted to it. Here is a drawing of what the frame is going to look like:

Today me and my dad made a part of the X-axis construction from steel square pipe.
Better pictures will follow when I get the bearings ready.
I made some drawings of a table where the cnc will be on.
