Someone asked me if I could design a light-effect controller for on his kite.
Example (From another site):
The light program can be made on a pc and then programmed in a eeprom. The eeprom then gets read by a microcontroller that controls the leds.

The previous eeprom programmer wouldn’t work. Therefore I made a new version that uses a pic with an USART.

Today I got a lot of the bugs out of the software (I hope 
). Tomorrow I’m going to test the circuit with the led’s connected.
